The Design

Located within the Woodgrange Estate Conservation Area in Forest Gate, this project restores and sensitively extends a charming Victorian mid-terrace house. Following extensive discussions with the Local Authority, the design includes a full-width ground floor extension, conservation rooflights, and internal reconfiguration to create a light-filled, flowing family home.

The design was approved on the premise that the full-width extension appeared to have been created in 2 distinct phases ensuring the mass did not appear as a single contemporary addition. Respecting the heritage setting, the proposals use high-quality materials, maintain the building’s historic character, and significantly improve living spaces without impacting the conservation area’s streetscape.
